1. What was the Truman doctrine and what was the cause of its creation?
America lent money to European nations, Greece and Turkey to prevent communism.
2. What were the series of events that brought about the Cold War?
European nations were falling behind Soviet Union's iron curtain. When Greece's civil war broke out, communist Greeks threatened to take over the government. In Turkey, the Soviet Union was demanding control of the straits.
3. How did each side in the Cold War perceive the goals of the other side, and were these perceptions justified?
America perceived the war as a means of maintaing a free world. The Soviet Union wanted to spread communism outside of their own country.
4. How did the presence of nuclear weapons affect international politics during the Cold War? Explain.
The presence of nuclear weapons caused much tension between the two countries. Because of these nuclear bombs, we were on the edge of turning the Cold War into a nuclear war.

1. What economic changes occurred post WWII?
Taft-Hartley Act closed shops that only allowed union members. The Employment act promoted production, employment, and purchase. The construction of highways and suburbs allowed more employment. There was a huge rise in middle class and in women work population. There was a major industry boom in the United States at this time.
2. What social changes occurred post WWII?
Taft-HartleyAct made union leaders swear in with an anti-communist oath. The G.I. Bill provided higher education and cheaper home loans. The construction of suburbs instituted the white Americans and companies to move out of the cities. Many moved to the sunbelt area, which lead to more power in the south and more construction of industries. The baby boomers caused industries to start focusing on the younger generation.

1) What were the reasons that led the USA to getting involved in Greece and Turkey?
During that time, Greece was had a crumbling economics and politics, and were in danger of being overthrown by the Greek communists group, the National Liberation Front. In Turkey, the weak governement was being pressured by Russia to share its control of the Dardenelle Straits.
2) What is the Domino Theory and how does it relate to this circumstance?
The Domino Theory is simply, the effects of a communist country to its border countries. Americans were afraid that because Russia was a communist society, it would affect countries around it, resulting in communism around, and eventually, most of the world would be communistic.
3) The Truman Doctrine can be called the beginning of Cold War Foreign policy. Explain this.
The Truman Doctrine stated that America would help Greece and Turkey to prevent communism in their countries. This led to the Marshall Plan, which extended the offer to all countries who were trying to resist communism. This also spurred the creation of NATO, and many other policies that would bind European countries to America.
